FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you do not see a Q&A below, please contact info@sweetpeasstore.com for more information.

Can I pay at the pump?

Yes, you can use a credit card at the pump or pay inside.

Is there a hold on my credit card when purchasing at the pump?

Using a credit card at Sweet Pea’s fuel pumps initiates a temporary pre-authorization hold. Upon completion of fueling, Sweet Pea’s immediately transmits a completion transaction notice with your actual total. The card issuer is responsible for releasing the pre-authorization hold and processing the final purchase amount.

What types of fuel are available at Sweet Pea's?

From standard gasoline grades to diesel and kerosene, we carry top-quality fuels to keep you moving. Availability varies by region, so be sure to check our Store Locator before you head out!

Should I turn off my vehicle while fueling?

Keep your engine off while fueling. Gasoline vapors linger 12 to 24 inches off the ground and can spread up to 20 feet—heat from a running vehicle’s catalytic converter can easily ignite a flash fire.

Why do I need to remain with my vehicle during fueling?

Stay by your vehicle while fueling to prevent overfills and spills. Customers are legally and financially liable for cleanup costs and emergency services if a spill occurs due to pump negligence

To avoid static sparks that can ignite fuel vapors, stay outside your car and touch a metal object before touching the nozzle. Plus, staying by your vehicle ensures you can immediately stop the pump if an overfill occurs.

Can I top off my tank or container?

Gasoline needs space to expand in your tank, so avoid topping off after the nozzle clicks off. Beyond risking fuel spills and unsafe vapors, spilling just a single ounce releases as many harmful emissions as a 56-mile drive.

Where should I fill up my container?

Place portable fuel containers flat on the ground before filling—never leave them in a truck bed or on car carpet, which can build static electricity and spark a flash fire.

Can I fill up multiple vehicles at once?

Filling multiple vehicles on a single transaction (“double-pumping”) increases fire risks and is strictly prohibited at Sweet Pea’s. In accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and state laws, our team will strictly enforce this rule and is authorized to shut off pumps immediately if unsafe fueling occurs.

How do I sign up for rewards?

Depending on your location, fuel rewards can vary. Check with your store to find out which fuel provider rewards program you should sign up for.
